We were fortunate to have SSB's own BJ M-R lead us in a discussion of the clean water crisis in Flint, Michigan. In fact, he had visited the area in order to deliver aid to the residents.
Although the media has largely left this town since the initial problems were exposed, residents continue to suffer hardships, much of it due to the fact that Flint was already a troubled place to live before the crisis struck, and many of the people left behind simply cannot afford to move anywhere else.
Thanks, BJ, for not allowing people to forget that there is still much work to be done after the media shifts its focus to the latest story.

SSB Raises $4000 for C-24/7
From Citrus to Retro Sales, Social Service Board has worked hard to raise $4,000 to benefit C-24/7, a small organization in Chicago that takes care, feeds and tutors children after school.
We're hoping that with our help, C-24/7 can expand into a larger facility to accommodate more children!
A big thanks to Vivi for finding such a worthy organization to donate to!

The Presidential Panel
We have been so fortunate to have had four strong candidates for next year's Social Service Board presidents. Thanks for volunteering to lead us, and special thanks to the SSB members who asked such thoughtful questions of their peers. The results are in and will be revealed later today!

Citrus Success
Although the final tally is not yet exact, we're so proud of Social Service Board for raising thousands of dollars for our chosen charity, C24/7, a tutoring service in Rogers Park, Chicago. Thanks to all Board members who worked hard to get out the word, make the sales, and deliver the citrus. Special thanks to our current co-presidents, Ali and Noah, #justfriends, for leading us in to action.

Donate Books!
As I mentioned in Board, this is an opportunity to donate gently-used or like-new books to incarcerated women. I will start collecting books on Monday for a weekend donation. Here are some important links:
Thanks!
- The news article explaining the organization, Chicago Books to Women in Prison
- The list of books needed: please do NOT bring a book without reading the very specific descriptions
- The list of special requests
Thanks!
