Cradles to Crayons Coat Drive

Donate winter clothes such as jackets or warm outerwear from infant size to adult medium, gear such as hats and scarves and gloves, and boots to Chicagoan children in need. There are donation boxes at every entrance to the Winnetka building, so make sure to drop off your donations as you enter the building!

Again, note that donation equals dignity. Make sure that your donation is in good shape. Although we are happy to receive donations from you, we will be unable to distribute donations that are torn, dirty, etc. Second, boots come in pairs! Help us keep our donations organized by putting boots in bags or otherwise making sure they stay together. Third and finally, make sure to coordinate with your family and friends for your donations!

Again, the winter drive runs through to the end of the day next Monday. Help a child in need!

Alex's Lemonade Stand

SSB is running a fundraiser for Alex's Lemonade Stand, a charity dedicated to furthering the research of childhood cancer. The fundraiser will run from November 1-15, and you can donate by giving two dollars to any SSB member.

Each two dollars you give will enter you into a raffle, where you could win a pair of AirPods or a Grateful Bites gift card! We accept cash or e-payments.

Come to our lunch table on November 4th or 5th.

Stock the Shelves Noodles & Co. Fundraiser

 This Wednesday, come to the Skokie Noodles & Co. from 4-8! 25% of proceeds will be donated to Stock the Shelves in Chicago. Let's go trevs!

What is the purpose of giving?

Last year, we showed this short video (~21 minutes) to our Board members, and most agreed that it made a big impact upon how they viewed the concept of "giving" usually commonplace in a school setting. For example, we all are familiar with canned food drives, clothing donations, etc., but how effective are these actions in alleviating the conditions that give rise to the problems? Please watch and be prepared to share your thoughts.

RefugeeOne

The news has been flooded recently with news of America's involvement in Afghanistan.

RefugeeOne is a Chicago-land charity that helps refugees from all across the world resettle in the U.S. from resettlement programs to English lessons. Now more than ever they need our help to serve the many refugees who will flee to America. If you are able and willing, please click here to donate to this charity.

RefugeeOne scored a 100 for finance and accountability, and through other aspects have not been rated we hope this gives you the confidence to support what this important charity is doing.

Would you like to join Social Service Board? We would love to have you! Social Service Board is a 9th period club that meets everyday. There is no homework, but once a week clubs will meet after school.

How to apply:

In order to join, please fill out this survey. In addition, please send this recommendation form to a teacher of your choice. Finally, send this recommendation form to your adviser. These ELECTRONIC application should be completed and submitted by March 5th, 2021.

If you apply, next years presidents will be in touch to set up a meeting.
