Board Co-Heads of the Week: #KRZ

Today, we begin a new feature on our website, featuring members of the Social Service Board. As most of you know, the Board consists of three Co-Presidents (#bigthree), who have been featured in this space, previously (see below).

We want you to get to know our other members, too, who are critical to the operation of our clubs. Once a week, we will feature a single Board Co-Head in a light-hearted Q & A session. You'll find out a bit more about the group they serve, but also some fun facts about them as individuals.

For now, we are featuring the new webmasters, Kate, Rebecca, and Zara, better known by their hashtag, the #KRZ. Among many tasks, they take care of the important details which allow visitors to learn more about the sites we serve, and how to become a volunteer.

Thanks to them for their hard work and look to this space in the near future for more SSB pride!

What $150 Buys

Each co-head from Social Service Board can request up to $150 for any organization they sponsor. The money can be in the form of a check or supplies. For example, Mo and Zoe each purchased gift cards and supplies for Rice Sports & Games and Onward House.

If YOU want to make a request for YOUR specific organization, please consider the following:
  1. Certain organizations are not in need of additional funds. For example, ICRE receives money from the State of Illinois.
  2. Other organizations need funds for daily operational costs (like rent).
  3. Please make your request IN WRITING to Mr. Lawler or Mr. Bolos. Consult with your sponsors regarding how to deliver the funds or the supplies.
THANKS!

Celebrating our Seniors!

We're so grateful to our seniors for their hard work this semester! Our new Board presidents decided to SURPRISE them, by decorating our room and providing everyone with ice cream treats. Thanks, all for the little and big things you do: #yourethebest

Congratulations to our 2018-19 Presidents!

We had an awesome slate of five candidates, and the tradition is to elect only two, but as we tallied the votes, we were pleasantly surprised to see we had a virtual three-way tie! Congratulations to Lexie, Naomi, and Zak, now known as #bigthree!
