Onward House is holding a drive for all supplies listed below! Boxes will be on the main entrances of the Winnetka campus, help out if you can!

Cradles to Crayons Coat Drive

Donate winter clothes such as jackets or warm outerwear from infant size to adult medium, gear such as hats and scarves and gloves, and boots to Chicagoan children in need. There are donation boxes at every entrance to the Winnetka building, so make sure to drop off your donations as you enter the building!

Again, note that donation equals dignity. Make sure that your donation is in good shape. Although we are happy to receive donations from you, we will be unable to distribute donations that are torn, dirty, etc. Second, boots come in pairs! Help us keep our donations organized by putting boots in bags or otherwise making sure they stay together. Third and finally, make sure to coordinate with your family and friends for your donations!

Again, the winter drive runs through to the end of the day next Monday. Help a child in need!

Alex's Lemonade Stand

SSB is running a fundraiser for Alex's Lemonade Stand, a charity dedicated to furthering the research of childhood cancer. The fundraiser will run from November 1-15, and you can donate by giving two dollars to any SSB member.

Each two dollars you give will enter you into a raffle, where you could win a pair of AirPods or a Grateful Bites gift card! We accept cash or e-payments.

Come to our lunch table on November 4th or 5th.

Senior Citizen Holiday Greeting Cards

This years season of giving looks different than most years.  As many elders are forced to spend the holidays alone, Meals on Wheels is teaming up with the Cook County Sheriff's Department is offering the chance to put your creativity and artistic abilities to the test by making seasonal greeting cards.

Additional Information:

• Volunteers can make as many cards as they would like. We encourage you to have family members, friends and groups help out – the more, the merrier!
• 
  
• Our seniors age in range from 60 to 100 years old.
• 
  
• Remember that it is the thought that counts! Many of our seniors have no family and these cards will let them know that someone cares.
• 
  
• When cards are complete, please collect them at the school, either through a drop-off or to be printed via email. The Sheriff’s Office will organize a pick-up before Christmas and we will work with Meals on Wheels to distribute to their seniors.
• 
  
• Please have all cards completed and ready for pickup by end of day, Friday, Dec. 18^th

Healthcare Hero Messages

During this pandemic, our healthcare workers have worked day and night tirelessly to help patients. We wanted to show our gratitude to these amazing workers by sending letters saying how grateful we are to help the coronavirus. We found a website to send messages to workers at the University of Chicago medical center; you too can send messages through this link.
