Meet Our Presidents!

Get to know our 2025-26 Presidents: Margee Baby and Maeli Finn!

1. What is your favorite activity we do in SSB?

Margee: I

love that everyone on the board is so involved and works so hard. My favorite activity is to give out the grit awards to our super gritty board members!

Maeli: I love making the daily slideshow and coming up with the question of the day!

2. Why did you want to join SSB or run for president?

Margee: SSB has had a huge impact on my high school experience. The service that we do has played a big role in shaping my values. I wanted to run for president so that I can give back to the board by creating a fun and welcoming environment that everyone wants to get involved in!

Maeli: I wanted to run for president because volunteering through Social Service has made a huge impact on my life and I felt confident in my ability to help others feel excited to participate and find value in the work that we do.

3. What club are you a co-head of and what is your favorite part about going to your club every week?

Margee: I lead Madonna Mission! My favorite part about it is all the friendships I have formed with the kids I tutor. Seeing them is the highlight of my week!

Maeli: Sophomore year I led Northside Tutoring, junior year I led Centro Romero, and this year I lead McGaw YMCA. At McGaw, we help run their Tuesday STEM program and I’m planning to major in Biochemistry so I love teaching kids about science and getting them excited!

4. What is a fun fact about you that no one knows?

Margee: My last name has an accent over it (Bâby) and is pronounced Bobby.

Maeli: I was born in China and my name means beautiful in Mandarin!

Centro Romero

Welcome to Centro Romero! We meet at the white busses on Wednesday every week. We leave NT at around 3:45 and get back at around 6:00. Centro Romero is an amazing tutoring center where we help tutor and play games with kids in elementary-middle school. Many of the kids come from Spanish speaking families so it is a great way to put any Spanish knowledge to use.

Leaders: Molly Corr, Jane Curtis, and Manya!

N. Chicago Community

Welcome to North Shore Community Partners. We are a volunteer group that meets every Wednesday directly after school at the flag pole. We will leave by 3:45 so please be on time and expect to be home by 6. The location of our service site is in Lake Bluff and transportation will be provided to and from the school via white shuttle buses.  At the site, we help tutor underprivileged kids in basic subjects. The content we will be teaching is fairly easy, so any level of experience is sufficient. It’s a lot of fun and a great way to help out a community in need.

Leaders: Sophia L, Sydney K., Ella P. !

Inspire Youth Tutoring

Inspired Youth Tutoring is a service club focused on tutoring and playing with kids at a center on the North Side of Chicago. We meet Tuesdays after school by the white buses from around 3:30-6! If you have any questions please feel free to contact the club heads: 20280767@student.nths.net, 20280698@student.nths.net, 20280139@student.nths.net, or the club sponsor Diego Arias-Arellano at ariasd@newtrier.k12.il.us.

Arbor Terrace

Welcome to Arbor Terrace! We meet at the outdoor track by the white buses after school on Tuesdays. We usually leave New Trier at 3:45 and are back around 5:30. Arbor Terrace is a nursing home in Glenview, where volunteers play games and provide company for the senior citizen residents. Volunteering at Arbor Terrace provides the opportunity to grow relationships with people that volunteers otherwise would not have.

Northside tutoring

Welcome to Northside Tutoring club!! We meet at the E-cafe by the stairs and then walk to the white buses to head out, usually leaving New Trier at 3:45 and arriving back around 5:30. Participating in helping the kids at Northside Tutoring is an amazing opportunity to serve the community and lift up local youth. The kids we work with are on the younger side, and would hugely appreciate having your support after school on Mondays—we hope to see you there!!

Family Focus

Welcome to Family Focus Club! We meet in the cafeteria right after school on Mondays and the club runs from 3:30pm-6:00pm. We depart around 4:00pm for Evanston where we engage with youth through tutoring, games, and other fun activities. If you have any questions feel free to reach out to us (the student club heads) at 20250879@student.nths.net20250841@student.nths.net, and 20260763@student.nths.net.

Meet us at the white buses by the outdoor track after school! We go out after school every Tuesday from 3:45 to 5:30. Text @mcgrawy to 810810 to join our remind and get further information about where to meet and stay up to date.

Onward House

Welcome to Onward House! We meet in the scrounge by the bookstore and then walk to our bus. We leave the scrounge around 3:40 and return to school around 6:15. Onward House tutors little kids (ages 6-11) and helps them with their homework. It is a very fun environment and kids are very friendly and excited to see us. Onward House awaits you!

About FORA

FORA stands for forging opportunities for refugees in America. FORA is an organization in Chicago that works with refugee kids who were denied access to education in their country. We tutor kids to help get them back up to grade level. We go out Wednesdays and leave NT at 3:45 and get back at around 6:45. These kids need consistency, so we are looking for volunteers who would be able to come every week (besides any emergency’s)

About Lydia Home

Welcome to Lydia Home! We play sports and games with foster children on site in Evanston. We meet every Wednesday at 4:00 at the white minibusses on Trevian Way, and get back to New Trier at around 6:00.

About Madonna Misson
